Westmont, Il. - July 10, 2000 - A report recently published by IDC, a leading research and analyst firm serving the IT industry, ranked Silvon as the leading vendor in terms of 1999 software license and maintenance revenue for the packaged data mart market, consisting of software products that combine support for data warehouse generation and management, data access, and information analysis in a single solution.
The report, entitled "Information Access Tools Market Forecast and Analysis, 2000-2004" (IDC #22306) ranked Silvon first in overall market share in the packaged data mart segment, which showed aggressive growth of almost 80% from 1998. Expected growth of the worldwide packaged data mart market was forecasted by IDC to reach $674.5 million by 2004.
This validates Silvon Software's approach for delivering packaged data marts. "Silvon has been a pioneer in packaging software to meet the business intelligence requirements of corporations in product supply chain industries," said Henry Morris, one of the report's authors and IDC's Vice President of Research on knowledge management, data warehousing, and analytic applications software. "The company's new move from providing packaged data marts to analytic applications is a natural evolution, to meet the needs of those companies who prefer to buy, rather than build, analytic solutions for business performance management."
"Our deep-rooted experience in building supply-chain specific solutions, combined with more than 12 years of leading-edge technology experience, offers significant value to our customers in the manufacturing, wholesale distribution and retail industry sectors," said Michael J. Hennel, president and CEO of Silvon. "IDC's recognition of our approach is a very welcome, positive endorsement of our overall product direction and market leadership position."
