Westmont, Illinois — February 27, 2003 – Silvon Software, a global provider of Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) software applications, joined students, other supply chain solution providers, media representatives and academic leaders of Texas A&M University (TAMU) at today’s grand opening of TAMU’s Supply Chain Systems Laboratory (SCSL). The SCSL is an industrial distribution initiative supported by Silvon and other hardware and software solution providers through contributions of supply chain-focused solutions and services for research and educational purposes. Silvon worked together with IBM Corporation to deliver an eServer iSeries platform and supply chain performance management software solution to the SCSL. Al Zollar, General Manager of IBM eServer iSeries division, also was on hand at the grand opening of the laboratory.
“Silvon is honored to play a role in this important and well conceived program for Supply Chain research and education,” said John Hughes, Senior Vice President of Silvon Software. “Texas A&M’s insight and commitment to furthering research and education on information management for the supply chain is quite commendable. It’s our hope that Silvon’s deep-rooted expertise in assisting manufacturers and distributors with their performance management initiatives will lend additional credence and high value in helping TAMU reach its overall goals for the laboratory.”
“We have ambitious plans for the lab not only to educate our students, but to become a leading research center that will collaborate with other universities and deliver knowledge to their students as well,” said Dr. F. Barry Lawrence, Director of the Supply Chain Systems Laboratory. “Thanks to technology partners like Silvon, the lab is a living class environment for teaching undergraduates in the Industrial Distribution program, business executives in the Industrial Distribution program's professional development group, and students in the Masters of Industrial Distribution program each year. It represents another giant step in ensuring that our students continue to receive a relevant, cutting edge industrial distribution education, and that our industry partners reap the benefits of a highly motivated faculty who are at work solving current and significant real world problems.”
In addition to Silvon, other technology partners involved with the Texas A&M Supply Chain Systems Laboratory include IBM Corporation, J.D. Edwards, Siemens, Prelude Systems, Intuit Eclipse, Dimasys, E-bots and Selltis.
