Westmont, IL - May 17, 1999 - Silvon Software, Inc., a global provider of business intelligence solutions for manufacturing, wholesale distribution, and retail organizations, announced today two new analytic application solutions for companies using J.D. Edwards software. The first solution is a new entry in Silvon's DecisionMart product line which brings powerful packaged analysis tools to small and medium-sized businesses. The second solution is a rapid implementation template for Silvon's premier DataTracker product line which supports the complex and detailed data analysis needs of medium and large-sized supply chain enterprises. Both Silvon products are compatible with J.D. Edwards WorldSoftware(tm) and OneWorld(tm) databases.
Silvon Sales DecisionMart for JDE is a complete, rapidly-deployable sales and margin analysis solution that includes software, hardware, and services. Sales DecisionMart for JDE is designed to simplify and speed up user access to and analysis of meaningful sales, marketing and operations data captured by J.D. Edwards applications. The product provides business performance answers such as: detailed sales performance by geography, sales performance by individual representative by product, market segmentation, product line profitability, exclusion reporting, trend analysis, returns analysis, promotion and pricing analysis, and more user defined rules.
Customer implementations require two weeks or less, so companies will start to see the returns on their investments very quickly.
JDE QuickStart for DataTracker is designed for J.D. Edwards customers that need a fully-customizable business intelligence system, but don't want to spend three to six months or more designing and building a solution. By employing JDE QuickStart for DataTracker and Silvon's DataTracker application foundation, customers can populate the pre-built data model with their own data and give users access to a working sales analysis tool within two weeks. Meanwhile or at a later time, the customer can adapt the pre-built data model to accommodate their specific business requirements.
"For years, we have been providing our Application Data Mart technology to companies that use J.D. Edwards for their core business transaction systems," said John Hughes, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Silvon. "Silvon Sales DecisionMart for J.D. Edwards offers to JDE customers a viable alternative to limited-function desktop tools or high-cost data warehousing solutions that require long implementation timeframes. Instead, this product offers them an entry-level sales analysis solution that's attractively priced, installable in less than two weeks, and capable of migrating easily to Silvon DataTracker as their data analysis needs grow in the future."
"Silvon's JDE QuickStart for DataTracker is for those businesses that need the full power of DataTracker, but still want to get up and running quickly," continues Hughes. "The QuickStart essentially packages up our experience with over 50 J.D. Edwards data mart implementations to give new customers a head-start on their installation. Using our application accelerator right out of the box, J.D. Edwards customers can quantify the product mix and profitability of what they deliver to customers; determine profitability by customer, by sales territory, and by region; sell more by determining trends and selling into them; and respond faster to changes in the marketplace."
"Silvon's new J.D. Edwards accelerator is designed to streamline the start-up process and shorten the payback time for these types of strategic applications," said Joseph Guerra, Senior Consultant at D.H. Andrews Group, a consulting firm specializing in J.D. Edwards and Business Intelligence. "Based on my experience with J.D. Edwards accounts, there is no doubt in my mind that Silvon understands J.D. Edwards applications and is now able to deliver solutions that can easily locate, extract, and utilize the data that users need for high-powered sales analysis."
Both products are available for either the IBM AS/400 with DB2/400 or for Microsoft Windows NT Server with Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. In addition, both Silvon products may be used with J.D. Edwards OneWorld(tm) or WorldSoftware(tm).
The complete Silvon Sales DecisionMart for JDE package, including analytic application data model and user templates, JDE-specific data extract and transformation, OLAP server and viewer, system software, implementation services, and hardware hosting platform is priced starting at $42,000 (for a 5-user license). A leasing option is also available.
JDE QuickStart for DataTracker includes the analytic application data model and user templates, JDE-specific data extract and transformation, and services to implement the solution. It is sold with Silvon's DataTracker product and is priced at $20,000. DataTracker itself uses processor-based pricing, and prices start at $59,500 (for 5 users).
